Known as the Scorpion it was designed to be used in airborne operations. The M-56 was operated by the United States Army 82nd and 101st airborne units. The gun was pivoted on the top of the hull and a small shield gave minimal protection to the driver and gun layer. The rest of the gun crew stood on the ground serving the gun. When on the move, the crew hung on as best they could. It was used from 1958 to 1969. This one served in Vietnam.
