Our Sargent Fletcher ART/S External Fuel Pod has a new Display Cradle!

Back to

At our museum, we’re proud to honor the ingenuity and dedication of those who preserve military history. One of our latest achievements is constructing a wooden cradle to securely hold and display the impressive 370-gallon external fuel drop tank from the F-16 fighter jet. The older blue cradle, which had held the tank for years, was showing signs of wear and tear and needed to be replaced to ensure the exhibit’s longevity and safety.

Our talented mechanic, Will, teamed up with our brilliant curator, Craig, to design and fabricate this robust wooden structure. With their skillful craftsmanship and teamwork, they created a cradle strong enough to safely house this sizable and historically significant flying fuel pod.

This remarkable piece of aviation history resides at Tankland. Come see this incredible external fuel tank up close, and witness the perfect blend of historical preservation and modern craftsmanship.
Don’t miss the chance to experience this piece of military aviation history in person—only at Tankland!
